Pyjamarama Day

14th May 2021

On Friday 14th May, the whole school took part in the Book Trust’s Pyjamarama Day to raise money to ensure that all children across the country can have access to books and, especially, bedtime stories. We all came to school in our PJs for the day and donated £1.

Throughout the day, different teachers read bedtime stories to the whole school over zoom.

Mrs Morris started the day off by reading her favourite- Supertato. Mr Feaster, Mr Jones and Miss Vien put together a very entertaining reading of The Gruffalo. They put their faces in place of the characters’ faces in the book and did some amazing voices when reading the story.

After break, Mr Rylands read us one of his favourites- Mog the Forgetful Cat! He also showed us photos of his children reading bedtime stories to their cat at home.

Mrs Dowling started the afternoon off by reading Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. This is a story that she loved as a child and now enjoys reading with her son at home.

Miss Brockett chose the last story of the day but didn’t read it. The Year 6 children shared the story amongst them and read The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse to all of the children in the school. They were fantastic.

Throughout the afternoon, we carried out different activities linked to books and bedtime stories.

We raised a total of £166.90. It was a great day!
