Year 3

Mrs Richards

Year 3 Teacher

I’m Mrs Richards and joined Woodlands Academy in 2019, before this I spent my time teaching at two different schools in Bristol. One of which, was Waycroft Academy for 6 years. After my A-levels I was lucky enough to spend a GAP year in Canada working in an international boarding school. Following this I trained to be a teacher in Exmouth, at Rolle College in Devon. I started my teaching career in 2009, in Exeter, before moving to Bristol to be closer to family.
I am passionate about teaching and enjoy being a role model for learning as I believe that we are all life-long learners. I have always loved art and bring this creativity to my teaching so that every style of learner can achieve and succeed. I also have a keen interest in English, in particular developing reading and writing skills as this was my degree specialism.
Within Woodlands I teach in year 3, part time with another teacher. In my spare time I enjoy swimming with my daughter and going for walks in the countryside. I enjoy signing with her to help her learn to talk and I am aiming to learn even more of British Sign Language as I find it fascinating and helpful for communicating with other children and people of all ages.

Mrs Dowling

Year 3 Teacher

My name is Mrs Dowling and I’ve been working at Woodlands Academy for six years now! I have spent most of my time teaching in Year 6 although I have also taught in Year 2 and this year am looking forward to teaching in Year 3! I currently lead music within our school. I really do love my job, and enjoy working with the lovely children and fantastic staff here. In my spare time I read as much as I can and love a good colouring book!
